Cristina Clarimon

Do They Think of Me at Home?
Daytime Star (Exhausted)
Leccion 8 (Deceit)
Cristina Clarimon is a Spanish collage artist living and working in the United States. Born and raised in Madrid, she has been living in the american southwest for ten years. Her art work is personal and unique. It has evolved from detailed portraiture to pieces that combine a variety of techniques resulting in rich surfaces and interesting compositions. Her paintings are built up layer by layer from beautiful handmade papers and glazes of paint. She combines time tested, traditional techniques such as oil painting with the newest digital technology, patiently working the images to be evocative and quietly beautiful. The images from her work appear to be captured at a peaceful moment. They give the impression of being suspended in time, resting but ready to take flight. They have a silent and even pulse that allows the mind to wander, to imagine.

What's on my mind...
